| Yes, it would be my first time a bikefest. Just a few questions before we make the drive out from Michigan. 1. Did I miss a page with an outline of events? 2. What does the $65 cover, just admission to the event? Or more? 3. Some of us thought about volunteering. What does that involve? What type of commitment? Does a volunteer still pay admission? 4. Are there any races at this event? 5. Did I miss a page with all this info? 6. I saw some posts about onsite camping, does that cost extra or is it part of registration? I saw it was first come first served... when do we need to get there to secure a spot? Is there any way of reserving a spot? 7. What about food? Do we need to be prepared for 3-5 days of food, or will there be food for purchase or included in the registration cost? Thanks for all the help with these questions. We are looking forward to our first time at bikefest. |

The $65 covers your admission the the festival and camping. First come, first serve has alot to do with your choice of camping, generally speaking there is room for everybody as long as folks don't hog space. There are no races, but tons of rides for every level that happen throughout the days. There are also clinics, demos and a great vendor area that are all part of your admission. Food is your choice, you can bring your own or you can buy it there. I've done both over the years. My advice would be to bring some along though. The last few years it seems that the offerings aren't that good (ex. a "mexican" restaurant comes but only has a few choices and doesn't have stuff like sour cream and guac, basics for most mexican places). But if you are content with burgers and dogs, you should be fine. The folks who own the camp also had some really tasty baked goods. But again, if you are buying all your food, you also have to contend with lines (especially in the AM). Also, to my knowledge, volunteers get into the event free. Hope this info helps, perhaps we'll run into each other on the trails in July. Cheers |

| Thanks kizmit, that's some good info. It would be good to get all the details and schedule posted somewhere here on the site. I am thinking of calling the "hotline" to see what kind of info I can get. I am working on getting a group of people down there, and there are so many questions that I don't have answers to that keep popping up. Thanks again. |

| Hi there. We are working on getting a detailed schedule of events together for the website - I am just hesitant to post it too early because it will continue to change from now until the Festival. That said, the price of admission to the Festival gets you your camping space for the weekend, access to the vendor Expo and the opportunity to participate in all of the Festival's events and activities (just note that some things like the Bourbon tasting will have limited number of space AND will require an ID). If you've had a chance to read through the news stories here you'll get a pretty good sampling of some of the special events we'll be featuring including: An official screening of Klunkerz on Friday night, the Kenda Night Ride Scavenger Hunt, clinics with the LUNA Chix, Hans Rey, Brian Lopes and other fun stuff (like the Bourbon tasting!) in the Dirt Rag tent PLUS lots and lots of rides led by celebrity riders and local ride leaders alike.
We do have food vendors in the main food tent and water and ice are also for sale on-site. As Kizmit mentioned, the owners of the farm the event takes place on do sell some VERY tasty baked goods too. Their whoopie pies have been a favorite at the trail building days so far!
You are always welcome to call the hotline - I'd be happy to chat with you in more detail.
Cheers! |
