| Kendafest is pretty much the best time ever. Somehow its become an event that requires "quiet hours."
For a lot of people this is the only time you can let loose, not worry about the kids/wife and just have a good time.
For some reason a small group of people decide to come on this forum and complain about how the festival is about riding not about late night fun.
This ruins the fun for everybody and makes it seem like theres a problem.
Most people are not bothered by the late night fun or noise and don't say anything. This group of people is not represented on this forum because they're laid back and don't care. They don't waste thier time complaining on this forum because it's a waste of time and just ruins other people experience.
I'm going to throw out an example that might put things in perspective.....
//
There were a couple campers around 11pm with a light on talking softly. An event official with a spotlight came over to them and demanded that they turn their light off.
//
I'm not sure about you but I think having a light on should be allowed.
Please let the festival be a little more free spirited.
thanks |

| Thanks for the constructive response, maybe you could articulate your point of view a little bit further so there can be a discussion? |

| No. Although your point of view is noted and I respect your opinion because oddly enough that's just the kind of person I am. However, I don't know you, obviously, or who your associated with, but I can honestly say that people were very much bothered by the noise in previous years and they didn't say anything because they either A.) Didn't want to complain about something that would be gone by morning (or are experienced Festival-goers, like myself, and they brought earplugs) B.) Felt that there was no clear action to be taken that would stop it with out causing more problems, or C.) Were too tired from their rides to get up and go up the hill at night to the registration tent, where people may not even be anymore because THEY went to bed, just to complain. You said that people complained that it was "about riding not about late night fun. This ruins the fun for everybody" I believe your argument would be a little more convincing if you were to replace the wrongfully used term, "everybody" with perhaps a word for the people that it really represents. In other words, it ruins the drunken fun of the people that were drinking excessively (mind you, I am not including all the people who drank, just the ones that over did it a little... or a lot) who didn't realize how much they actually were disruptive. And also having a good time without your kids/wife is very much acceptable, but we just wish that people would respect that even if their isn't a family camping nearby, some people would just like to sleep and energize for the next day. As to the comment about the lights, it depends on what type of light it is. If it is a lantern light then they can hopefully be dimmed. The problem is that seeing a bright light at night ruins night vision and can be dangerous for any individuals walking by the tent area with the light because they will not be able to see clearly right after they pass by. That and the fact that the tents surrounding were probably affected by it's light. As I said, it depends on the brightness of the light. They problem remains that in the real world others must ALWAYS be considerate of the people around them, when they aren't... it leads to discussions like these. |

| Point taken, and I agree that crazy drunken people are the most disruptive group of idiots at the festival. What I'm trying to say is that when a group of crazy drunk people cause a problem or are just really loud, people complain and then we have "quiet hours." Quiet hours really takes most of the fun away since you can't have lights on or socialize even if your not being drunk and loud. What would be great is if the people who walked around and inforced the quiet hours could instead inforce "drunken idiot/excessively loud idiot hours." That way you can still stay up and have a good time if your reasonable (which most people are). Its like this: a loud drunken idiot can piss off everyone around him, those people complain =====> then you have quiet hours, which effects EVERYONE. It doesnt seem fair to let the idiots ruin it for everybody, does it? |

| Konarider,
I have no idea where you camped (nor does it matter to me). I have been to 7-8 kenda/pedros events and each year there has been some people that made excessive noise after 11 (quiet hours if I remember correctly at each event). The first year I went a person offered me and my friend earplugs (due to his snoring), I declined as I never had a problem sleeping while camping, well, I should have listened and accepted his offer. The next day I asked if he had any left and yes you guessed it, he did not. From that point on I have brought a couple pairs with me to each festival. They allow me to get the sleep I want as well as it allows the people who want to party to have the fun they want. Not once have I complained to the management at the festival, however I have mentioned that they should have options for those that do want to have a quieter area to camp (family section). This year my friends and I stayed in the "family" camping area (even though we had no kids or wives with us) opting to be in a "quieter" area, that and the earplugs worked out great. However for the poor souls who did not bring earplugs I can understand the complaints. When I woke up Saturday night to people partying did I complain...NO! I chalked it up as people having a nice time, no big deal. IMO, this year was not as loud as last year and had less fireworks.
Maybe what the management can do is see if they can make a deal with an earplug company (sponsorship) and include a set in the arrival goodie bag. |

| The family area this year was great. It was nice and segregated from the rest of the festival. We were up by the road. At night, I heard the cars going by more than I heard the festival. I had no problem sleeping. The only time I heard the partying was when I got up in the middle of the night Friday to take a leak. Hopefully next year the family area will be in the same place. |
