I am curious as to why Specialized didnt make an appearence at the bike fest this year. I recently purchased an 08 Stupjumper and looked forward to seeing some of their new stuff etc. From what i could gather from other vendors, specialized has never come to Pedros/Kenda Fest. I personally have been to quite a few and havent really noticed as I didnt ride their bike. Is there any truth to them just not wanting to come? Were they not invited?

There were a few other big names missing this year and I'm curious as to why: Shimano, Mavic & Giant come to mind!

To answer your questions very briefly the reasons some companies weren't there - schedule conflicts - meaning their field marketing teams were committed to events elsewhere (example - MAVIC was sending a big crew to Mt. Ste Anne) or because of budgetary constraints (higher fuel prices have made it harder for companies to keep their trucks on the road, higher costs of flights and shipping, etc). We, the Festival, do not exclude vendors. |

Its good to know they were invited. However, I find it hard to believe Dannys Bike Shop(no offence) was able to get out there, but Specialized/Shimano were so tied up and financialy burdened that they couldnt send a couple guys out with a tent? Its sad to see that these big name companies just dont feel these events are important enough to warrant their time/money to get out there. I'll remember that when im looking for a new bike... I almost feel ashamed riding their bike. Poor call by them.

I was disappointed that Mavic wasn't there because I have a Deetrax hub that needs some love and was hoping to take advantage of some free Mavic labor like I did last year. ;)

The strange thing about Mavic not being there was that they listed the Kenda Fest on their event schedule at http://www.mavic.com/mtb/services/events.aspx So it looks like they planned on going. I was definitely bummed that they decided not to come.
