Magazine Influencing Fest Culture on and off the Bike.
HANCOCK, MA (May 8, 2008) – Organizers of the 2008 Kenda Bicycle Fest have great sponsors, thousands of attendees, dozens of exhibitors, and a solid history of producing one of the best cycling festivals in America.
But they needed the right media partner. The plucky, independent magazine Dirt Rag fit the bill. “Our festival has a fun, Eastern heritage,” said Bruce Fina, one of the festival’s founders. “And Dirt Rag has been there for more than 12 years. It’s a great fit.”

The Kenda BikeFest, presented by Dirt Rag is excited to announce the addtion of the indie rock jam band, The Few to the Saturday night entertainment line-up for this year's Festival.
"The Few" citing The Allman Brothers, the Band, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jack Johnson among their musical influences are excited to be playing this year's Fest. Members Zeke Panitz and Kevin MacKenzie met while studying at the Berklee College of Music and started writing songs together. Soon fellow Berklee grad Jaime Rioux was added to give the band its sweet three part harmony and then Shaemus Shepard - a local from right down the road in North Adams - was added on drums. Kevin says, "We are a band that loves to keep it real. Our music is honest, sincere, and to the point, but also really fun and catchy. We're exicted about the Festival, it'll be the perfect crowd for our style - which I guess if I had to describe it would be 'Funky like an old pair of gym socks!"
You can read more about The Few in the upcoming June issue of Limelight Magazine or on their MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/thefewgroup. Or check out their newly release EP Morning Static.

Registration Opens for Kenda BikeFest, presented by Dirt Rag
Event Returns to Berkshires for 14th Edition
HANCOCK, Mass. (February 21, 2008) – Hope springs eternal. For those lamenting the doldrums of winter, there is good news. Registration for New England’s largest bike festival is open. For those looking for a true jump on the season, special early-bird pricing is in effect until March 31st.
“It’s as much a sign of springtime as ‘pitchers and catchers reporting,’” said Bruce Fina, founder of the Festival, now in its 14th year. The event will be held July 25-27 at the Apple Tree Hill Organic Farm, located in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains.
The Kenda BikeFest, presented by Dirt Rag is now accepting registration for this famous July bicycling rendezvous in the Berkshires via www.bikereg.com. The event’s revamped web site, www.bicyclefest.com is also active.
Each summer the Kenda BikeFest, presented by Dirt Rag sees thousands of cyclists turn out for camping, music, activities and, of course, cycling. “Once you’re in, the entire venue becomes a car-free venue, which makes it a friendly, fun and safe environment for families with kids of all ages,” said Fina. “We’ve watched kids grow up with this festival as their summer highlight. This is what makes this event so unique. People that were coming here as young, single adults are returning with the next generation of cyclists who've come to know this Festival as part of their family's summer tradition as much as other families look forward to their annual beach pilgrimage."
Founded as a mountain bike festival in 1995, the Kenda Bike Fest Presented by Dirt Rag, has embraced every facet of bicycling. While the centerpiece of the experience remains the network of world-famous cross country trails, the event also offers a consumer cycling Expo which provides Fest attendees the option to demo the latest in bikes and gear from their favorite brands in a real-world setting, celebrity guest pro athletes, activities, skinny-tire rides on some of New England’s most picturesque roads, and lift-service for both x-country and downhill riders at nearby Jiminy Peak.
ABOUT THE KENDA Bike Fest, presented by DIRT RAG.
